Changing and clearing crystals

I had a friend stay last weekend and this prompted a big change-around in the crystals that I have out on display at home. This was such a great opportunity to rethink what I had laid out and to bring in some new energies. I realised that I had been too busy to focus on new displays, the combinations that I had put out and hadn't even given enough thought to the current season!

So it was time to cleanse the space my crystals were in, clean the crystals themselves and to freshen up the arrangements. There was such a powerful, lifting atmosphere in the room afterwards that even my friend commented on this asking if I'd got any new furniture or something - and she's not a believer in the power of crystals so I'm going to consider this a resounding success!

Crystals and candles

I have recently been combining the use of crystals and candles much more than before to great effect. Not only is it beautiful to look at, I am also convinced that the efficacy of my crystal healing work is increased!

My reasoning behind this is firstly to use some colour therapy to bring about the right vibes. So for example, if I want to power up my crystal work I use red candles, if I want something fresh and new I turn to green candles

But I am also interested in using the main elements of the world around us more. So these would be fire, earth, wind and water. So in using fire (with the candle flame) I am evoking a powerful force for change and vibrancy. This works best with strong and vibrant crystals* of course, and the combined energies have a much more potent affect.

*Examples of these would be tiger's eye, citrine, hematite and red aventurine

Rose Quartz Mystic Mala Beads

I haven't had the chance to post in AGES! And I've been really missing my blogging so here's hoping I find the time to start up again. But I have made a great crystals discovery lately in the form of rose quartz mystic mala beads. I've come across them before but hadn't tried them until last week. They are also known as Pagan Prayer beads and this is how I came to know about them - thanks to a friend of mine who's really into Wicca!

Mala beads are 108 beads long and are to be used during meditation, chanting or incantations. You hold them in your right hand and count each one as you go.

Without wanting to bore you with too many details, I've had a really rough time of it lately and these are really helping me stay grounded. Recommend them :)

Crystal Combo for a Cold

Right now, I have a terrible cold. Needless to say I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself. But I do have a little ritual for helping me through and I always prefer the natural method to the chemical concoctions on the market today.

I firstly like to cleanse and clear using clear quartz. This doesn't take much, all you need to do is leave it under your pillow or carry it with you for a while. This will help to 'reset' your energies and pave the way for further crystal work.

Next, I will be using banded carnelian for its strength and restorative properties. I'm feeling pretty low and listless so this is perfect for giving me many different strong energies in one go! If you've also got a cough or a sore throat then you might want to try some blue agate

Aside from that, I turn to a nice sit down and a cup of tea!

Rhodonite and Negative Friends

Lately, I’ve had a little trouble with a negative person around me. She’s by no means a bad person but she tends to look on the downside of every situation and can drag the mood down. Seeing as I’ve had to spend quite a lot of time with her, I’ve decided to wear a rhodonite power bracelet to ward off her negativity. This crystal is often referred to as the rescue stone and right now it is doing just that. In fact my negative friend even complimented me on my new piece of jewellery! I’m not surprised however, these are just the effects of the bright and yet soothing energies that emanate from this wonderful stone.

Credit Crunch Citrine

Credit crunch, recession, call it what you like I’ve had some hard times financially of late and I’m far from out the other side of my problems! So I am going to be using a lot more of one of my favourite money crystals, citrine. Just the name makes me feel more vibrant and go-getting but it’s also a very giving gemstone and associated with abundance. Just what I need!

I like to combine using crystals with feng shui for a little extra oomph to the energies. The money corner of your home is the left hand corner right at the back of your house as you stand facing your front door. I like to place the largest piece of citrine that I have here. I have read that in feng shui, crystals are seen as a symbol of luxury and that would be most welcome :) In fact, I have seen amethyst also associated with wealth once placed in the money corner so you could try this too. I stick to citrine here because, and you may think I’m mad for this, the stones somehow remind me of those lovely koi carp you see, in the orange and white colours. I see them symbolised in feng shui and feel I am bringing in those energies with my citrine.

The other place I like to use my citrine for bringing money to me is by my purse. On an evening when I don’t need it - and there had better be more of these from now on - I place my purse on the table and surround it with some citrine tumblestones. I see the energies being two way here. Firstly it draws money to me, but secondly provides me with more will power to stop me spending unless absolutely necessary.

Blue Tiger's Eye for a Quick Temper!

Blue Tiger’s Eye is my favourite crystal for those times when I’m feeling a bit snappy - and unfortunately there’s been a few of those moments lately! This is very often used for times of depression also, so it is a very balancing stone, bringing you back to an even mood.

I like to keep this stone with me over a period of days so that I can feel the energies surround me and become part of me. I do this until I feel secure enough to leave it behind or start working with another crystal. I find that I can handle the stress much better and become more reasonable again. So blue tiger’s eye is not only a friend to me but to those close to me as well!

Crystal Gifts

When it comes to giving gifts to someone you truly care for or want to send a loving message to the personal touch always wins the day. It doesn’t matter how expensive or large the other presents may be, it will be that special thought that makes them pause and take in the sentiments.

And it’s not just because I love crystals that I tend to give them as gifts, it’s because you can say so much with them. An obvious example would be to give someone rose quartz to show that they are always in your heart. But you can also seek out other qualities to show how much you acknowledge the person that they are or what they have been going through. You can give them tiger’s eye if they have been feeling vulnerable and tell them that you are giving them the gift of spiritual protection. To help them with stress, a fluorite angel can watch over them for you.

There is always a gemstone to reflect their needs and rarely a person who wouldn’t love to receive such a precious and kind gesture.

Snow and Snow Quartz

Here in the UK, we've had a lot of snow! I know we're not the only ones but we have kind of enjoyed making a fuss about it I fear :) I had my own drama as I fell over on the ice and hurt my back but was, in the circumstances, extremely lucky. I've been a little wary since though, and this is where my snow quartz has come in.

Despite the disruption and chaos it can cause I actually LOVE the snow! I love the look at feel of it and the fact that it can really bring out the best in people. They seem to smile more and adopt a more playful manner. So after my fall, I was a bit saddened to lose some of that joy I usually feel and decided to carry some snow quartz with me every time I went out. By now we only have ice and frost left and I'm still carrying it around!

It has really given me my confidence back and allowed me to overcome my fears. It proves to me that you do not have to let fears change you. I know this is only in a small way but never the less, I feel empowered when a week ago I felt weak. So whatever it is that is worrying you, tackle it :)

Cleansing Crystals Using the Moon

We have recently had a full moon and I wanted to write about this then but just didn’t have the time! However, I can recommend using the moon as a way to cleanse your crystals at any time of the cycle as it brings a lovely, natural feel to the process. Obviously it is best to pick a night when it is not raining or cloudy but all you need do is simply place your crystals where they will receive a few hours of moonlight - simple as!

The main purpose of this is to reset the energies to a point where you have removed all of the build up within the crystals to make them ready for you to use again for different needs. It will also remove the negative energies. But I can’t help but feel my crystals take on a special energy when I’ve managed to cleanse them in this way. I start to feel particularly drawn towards them. I’ve yet to find myself growing hairy hands and howling at them, by hey, anything’s possible!
